Road Rash- Bust out the "Gold Bond" and kiss your ass goodbye... err, we know what you're thinking: there's nothing worse than the sweat rash between the legs. Well, there are 9 other worse things, but we figured that not only the smell, but the burning pain, were enough to top our list.
- Cutting The Fat- That smell of paintballs is unique. "Napalm in the morning" might be fine, but the smell of rotting shells, old paint and puddles of soppy, oily mud have most players gagging. We thought you'd appreciate the heads up not to head down "too early".
- FOG! - You can't see. Paintball is a game dependent on vision (for those without ninja training). Fog creates a huge problem. End of story? Sure, but we love to rant- WHY are there still lenses that fog on the market? Shouldn't this be priority #1? GET IT TOGETHER! That anti-fog spray is a lifesaver, but doesn't work in all cases...
- Shooting Stop Signs- Whether you're the average baller or the seasoned Pro, most players agree that shooting signs is a big no-no. Yet, we can't help but wonder why it remains the industry's "dirty little secret". Go figure: the greatest reminder of our outreach is also one of the largest deterrents towards mainstream involvement. Every city in America has at least one marked sign, while none of them should. "STREETBALL" in the X-Games shooting signs for prizes? It's a possibility...
- No TV!- We want television coverage soooo bad and we forget there's a very specific process in getting to that point. Instead, we hate to learn about it, complain about why there isn't a webcast and expect there to be one by World Cup. TV takes $$$ to put programs on the air. $$$= More players. More players =$$$ and TV. Organize!
- "Where The Stats Be At?"- A total lack of paintball statistics on a point by point basis. They've been experimenting in the APPA with this sort of tracking, but it has been limited but progressive. Having this information will be critical in the years to come and is as important now as ever.
- No Paintball Related Arenas- Lang Center? Greenspan Gardens? Pev's Arena? Ok, so SC Village and a few others have tipped the hat, but how hard is it to commit a few thousand square feet of concrete and rebar to the greatest game the world has ever known? It's about high time someone step up and blow our minds with a living Roman themed arcade.
-
Cost- No, it isn't #1, but costs are a major contributing factor to why players hate paintball so very much. I don't need to tell you it's the biggest reason most players AREN'T playing these days and one of the many reasons new players don't stick with it.
- "Not Enough"- Paintball is great, but there's just something missing, a "glue" that holds all players in place. The "it" factor as it were. Finding the perfect balance of "real life" and paintball life, where backyard battles and public parks aren't such a foreign ideal, has been the uphill battle for centuries. Costs, space, local laws and many other social factors have staved paintball away, but beyond the hill lies the Sun. And women with Champaign bottles that shoot out money. Yeah.
